This I Believe Celebration
Recently, the RAUC sixth grade hosted a celebration for the publication of their This I Believe
essays. After reading and analyzing essays from the website, students
created their own piece about a personal value tied to a story from
their lives. After weeks of planning, drafting, revising, and editing,
it was time to celebrate the great work being done in sixth grade ELA.
parents, and teachers gathered in the Peabody/RAUC library where the
entire sixth grade read their essays aloud to small groups. Then Mr.
Tobin gathered everyone together, and a few students shared with
everyone. First, Maya talked about working up the courage to ask for
help, then Larisa made the case against eating seafood and depleting our
oceans. Lucas made a pitch for never giving up on what you believe in,
while Jayden illustrated how hard work leads to success. Finally, Jack
shared an emotional piece about how getting teased makes him feel, and
how nice guys don't always finish last. It was a great day for the sixth
