This I Believe Celebration
This is the image for the news article titled This I Believe CelebrationRecently, the RAUC sixth grade hosted a celebration for the publication of their This I Believe essays. After reading and analyzing essays from the website, students created their own piece about a personal value tied to a story from their lives. After weeks of planning, drafting, revising, and editing, it was time to celebrate the great work being done in sixth grade ELA.

i_believe_content.pngStudents, parents, and teachers gathered in the Peabody/RAUC library where the entire sixth grade read their essays aloud to small groups. Then Mr. Tobin gathered everyone together, and a few students shared with everyone. First, Maya talked about working up the courage to ask for help, then Larisa made the case against eating seafood and depleting our oceans. Lucas made a pitch for never giving up on what you believe in, while Jayden illustrated how hard work leads to success. Finally, Jack shared an emotional piece about how getting teased makes him feel, and how nice guys don't always finish last. It was a great day for the sixth grade.
