Early Humans unit: project celebration and conversations on race and identity
The Early Humans project allowed students to choose from three creative project options. They could craft successful artifacts, illustrations or narratives on the early human of their choice in order to demonstrate their unit knowledge.
During their Early Humans celebration, our social studies scholars work each day to create a learning community, where each student can share their thinking and receive feedback to build upon. After each unit, students spend time celebrating their work by reflecting on their completed work and offering feedback to one another.
After students circulated and observed each other’s projects, they reflected on their project. The reflection prompts students to think about the challenges, something they improved on and their proudest part of their project. Ask your student these questions at home.
