RAUC Student Activists Work for Justice

On Tuesday, our GSA (Genders and Sexualities Alliance) had a visit from Martin Hamilton, an organizer from Freedom For All Massachusetts, which works to protect transgender rights in our state. He was joined by Leo Austin-Spooner, a CRLS student and former RAUC student who is involved with activism in support of transgender rights.

Martin and Leo spoke about the current political climate surrounding these issues, their own activism, and ways that students can get involved. Following their visit, five GSA members volunteered at an evening phone banking event. They were trained in how to speak with strangers about transgender rights, and the five volunteers reported it was a positive learning experience!
