Sixth Grade Math Students Create Public Service Announcements

Sixth Grade Math Students Create Public Service Announcements
Posted on 06/17/2019
Sixth grade math students at RAUC spent three weeks investigating a research question they were passionate about. They designed their own surveys and administered to their classmates. Part of their responsibility was to collect and analyze all of their results by finding percents, fractions, and creating visual graphs.

Their culminating product was an informative Public Service Announcement video that aimed to bring awareness of their research topic to the students and staff at RAUC. Their videos included at least two statistics and one graph they gathered from their surveys. Topics students chose ranged from gender stereotypes at RAUC to perceptions of global warming in the larger global community. Students felt empowered to create videos that sent a meaningful message using data to back it up.
