Today, two RAUC English teachers presented at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) conference held this year in Boston.

  • Grade 6 teacher Dan Tobin (pictured on left) and Grade 7 teacher Amy Gonzalez (pictured on 2nd from the left) attended in their roles as board members of the Boston Writing Project (BWP).
  • Their presentation, "Literature as Liberation: Using Texts To Dismantle Dominant Narratives and Inspire Humanity in Education," featured personal reflection from Ms. Gonzalez as she showed how she brings these sensibilities into the classroom.
  • They each also spent time at the BWP drop-in writing booth that allowed participants to add a colored heart to a centrally located tree sculpture (photo on right)
  • We’re so grateful for such talented & dedicated educators like Mr. Tobin & Ms. Gonzalez!
